Each of these puppets has been created to be its own unique self.
Size of puppet: Each is approximately 18 inches tall (without a hat). The cone is approximately three inches in diameter. The Wooden head bead is 1 1/2" in diameter. Dowel is 3/8" x 18". New and wonderful characters emerge continuously, so I hope you will visit often.
A word about the construction of these unique puppets. To begin with, a wooden bead is painted with a base coat of acrylic paint. Then features are painted on. Next, a dowel rod is sanded with very fine sand paper until the rod feels pleasant when gliding through your fingers. The head is then glued securely onto the dowel. Next, "hair" (or ears) is added. Hands or paws are cut out of felt. The body is cut from cloth specially selected for the character. A cone is constructed from two sheets of paper--poster board and a decorative paper--glued together and shaped carefully into a cone The hands are sewn into the body and the body is glued securely into the paper cone. Next come the many little details of earrings, necklaces, hat, scarf, instrument, or tail, etc. A coordinating trim is attached to the top of the cone where the body and cone meet. A smaller accent bead is then glued to the bottom end of the wooden dowel rod. After a final inspection, the puppet is then signed by S.E.W.Simmons because it was made with love. So, you see, much care has been invested in each little puppet. They are sturdy, and yet cannot withstand harsh treatment. Additionally, some have small parts that might become dislodged; therefore, they should not be handled by small children without immediate and close supervision by a responsible older child or adult. Of course, children of ALL AGES make a great audience. And adults and responsible children of all ages can experience the wonder and delight of expressing emotions, dance, and antics through these amazing puppets.
